Welcome to the AABC's Year at a Glance Calendar for 2024 - 2025

Lots of things are always happening "behind the scenes" at the AABC thanks to the hard work of our volunteers and contractors! Here's a glimpse to keep you updated so that you can plan to attend events or as a reminder to add something to your calendar. More information about the different professional development events, conferences, and Archives Awareness Week can be found on their specific pages on the AABC website. 

To note:

  • The AABC Executive meets on a monthly basis, 3rd week of the month via Zoom.
  • The AABC fiscal calendar runs April 1 - March 31 so this has been included in the extended calendar months below.
  • This is an organic timeline and dates/events will be updated as finalized.

January 2024

  • Distance education course: “Introduction to Archival Preservation” starts.

  • Annual conference planning with AABC/Arma VI (online conference).

  • Indigenous Advocacy Committee meeting.

  • Programs Committee meeting.

  • Roundtea: “Queer and Transgender Archives collections in BC” (Jan 22, 2024).

  • Contractors/volunteers submit “wish lists” for budget planning. Programs committee reviews. 

  • EAS Advisor visit to iSchool UBC to meet new archives students.


February 2024

  • AABC membership renewal letters sent (membership year April 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025).

  • Webinar: "Telling Our Community Stories through Private Records" (Feb 12, 2024).

  • Distance education course: Registration opens for “Introduction to Archival Practice”. 

  • Anti-Racism Bursary application opens.

  • Draft budget created and reviewed.

  • Winter newsletter to be published.


March 2024

  • End of 2023-2024 AABC fiscal year.

  • Membership renewal period.

  • Indigenous Advocacy Committee meeting.

  • Programs Committee meeting.

  • Workshop: “Archives 101: Archival Practice for Indigenous Organizations” (March 4-13, 2024).

  • Indigenous Forum (March 19)

  • Distance education course: “Introduction to Archival Preservation” ends.

  • Distance education course: Registration closes for “Introduction to Archival Practice”. 

  • Executive approves new budget.

April 2024

  • Membership renewal period.
