We all know that it’s important to be prepared in the event of an emergency, but the reality of our daily “to do” list at work often sees this type of planning remain as a low priority on the bottom of the list. Join us for this 1-day virtual workshop where we will take a proactive approach to identify threats and challenges to your collection and larger building envelope. We will discuss the importance of identifying vital records within your collection and how to prioritize their safe care and preservation during an emergency.

In the second part of the workshop participants will work together in small groups to recognize and assess risks to their specific organization. We will also review the NEDCC Disaster Plan template and how to customize it to your organization so that participants come away with practical and useful steps towards meaningful emergency planning.

Additional details:

The workshop schedule includes morning, afternoon and lunch breaks.

Participants will be provided with a copy of the presentation slides and resource handouts before the workshop starts. Participants are asked to print and have the handouts ready so that they can be used during group review work.
