Membership

The AABC offers a number of different membership categories available to those interested in joining our association. Membership categories are described below and your application can be completed and paid online by credit card (VISA or Mastercard) through our secure, online membership platform

The membership year runs from April 1st to March 31st. 

Optionally, you may download and complete the Institutional Application FormIndividual Application Form, or Affiliate Application Form for the upcoming membership year. Please note that we only accept cheque or money order payments (in Canadian funds) with paper application forms. 

At this time we do not accept American Express or International Bank Transfers.


Privacy Statement 

The personal information collected by the AABC will be used for managing membership renewals and for creating the Membership Directory. To edit your personal profile and manage your privacy settings, please log into the membership platform.

Membership Categories, Fees, and Benefits

Institutional Membership

Membership Fee: $72.00 - $480.00 (based on Annual Operating Budget, see below)

Institutional membership is open to those institutions that are engaged in the identification, preservation, and use of archival records and have paid the annual membership fee of the Association. An institutional member in good standing shall designate only one representative to vote at all meetings and to be eligible to hold office in the Association.

  • Advisory services by phone, email, and onsite visits
  • Access to MemoryBC to post and edit descriptions
  • Access to emergency recovery supplies
  • Member rate for educational opportunities, including distance education courses and workshops (up to 3 employees)
  • Member rate for conferences (up to 3 employees)
  • Membership directory
  • Professional development and networking opportunities
  • Eligibility to run for executive office and vote in the Annual General Meeting (for designated representative)
Operating Budget  =  Annual Membership Fee

$0 - $30,000 = $72.00

$30,001 - $75,000  =  $120.00

$75,001 - $150,000 = $180.00

$150,001 - $300,000 = $240.00

$300,001 - $500,000 = $360.00

$500,001 + = $480.00

Individual Membership

Annual Membership Fee: $72.00

Individual membership is open to people who support the objectives of the Association and/or who are engaged in archival work.

Benefits:

  • Member rate for educational opportunities, including distance education courses and workshops
  • Member rate for conferences
  • Membership directory
  • Professional development and networking opportunities
  • Eligibility to run for executive office and vote in the Annual General Meeting


Individual Membership (Retired or unpaid volunteer)

Annual Membership Fee: $30.00

This special category of individual membership is open to individuals who are retired or who are working in an unpaid, volunteer capacity in an archives.

  • Member rate for educational opportunities, including distance education courses and workshops
  • Member rate for conferences
  • Membership directory
  • Professional development and networking opportunities
  • Eligibility to run for executive office and vote in the Annual General Meeting


Student Membership

Annual Membership Fee: $30.00

Student membership is open to individuals who are currently registered full-time in a Community College or University program. New student members receive their first year membership free.

  • Professional development and networking opportunities
  • Eligibility to run for executive office and vote in the Annual General Meeting


Sustaining Membership

Annual Membership Fee: $96.00

Sustaining members are individuals who wish to support the work of the AABC by contributing an annual fee in excess of the standard individual membership fee.

  • Membership directory
  • Professional development and networking opportunities
  • Eligibility to run for executive office and vote in the Annual General Meeting


Affiliate Membership

Annual Membership Fee: $72.00 

Affiliate membership is open to those organizations that support the constitution of the Association, are engaged in or interested in archival work, and have paid the annual membership fee of the Association. This membership category is non-voting and members are not eligible for advisory services or MemoryBC.

Benefits:

  • Member rate for conference (for 1 employee)
  • Professional development and networking opportunities
  • Discounted rates on trade tables and sponsorships for conferences
  • Profile listing and linked logo in the online directory of service providers 


Honorary Life

Honorary life membership shall be accorded by a majority vote to persons who are distinguished for their archives work, or who have rendered distinguished service to the Association, or who are otherwise deemed worthy of the honour.
